About ASB

The Asia School of Business (ASB, not to be confused with Amanah Saham Berhad) is a global business school in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Founded in 2015 in partnership with Bank Negara Malaysia and MIT Sloan (Massachusetts Institute University), ASB combines Asian and global perspectives to give students a full business education. Innovation and entrepreneurship are at the heart of ASB, which aims to develop the next leaders for Southeast Asia. The school offers a full-time, 12-month MBA program based on the rigor of MIT Sloan’s curriculum, with a unique blend of academic and action learning experiences. This innovative approach ensures that students are well-equipped to tackle real-world business challenges and drive growth in the Asian market.

ASB offers programs and courses for students and professionals. The flagship program is the 12-month MBA which is based on MIT Sloan’s curriculum and focuses on Asia’s business landscape. ASB also offers executive education programs and undergraduate and graduate courses in business and management. With innovation and entrepreneurship as the core, ASB’s programs are designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to succeed in today’s fast-paced business world.

THE PROBLEM

Over time, the website of the Asia School of Business (ASB) has undergone several additions of new pages and sections without undergoing a significant overhaul. As the school's needs and audiences have expanded and become more diverse, the website's user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) must now be updated to ensure a seamless journey for all users, not just the original MBA audience.

The highlighted problems include a high bounce rate, decreased conversions, an unclear user experience, and e-commerce payment problems. These issues are impacting the website's overall performance and need to be addressed promptly to improve user engagement and drive conversions.

PAIN POINTS UNDERSTANDING

We began the research phase for the Asia School of Business (ASB) with desk research and surveys to gather initial data, then one-on-one interviews with ASB stakeholders and master students to get deeper insights into their journey and to identify their needs, wants and pain points when accessing the ASB website. Science was key in this phase as it is a core of ASB’s academic excellence. Then we did a competitor analysis to find out the current industry trends for academic websites.

Based on the research, we found the pain points, reframe the problem and come up with solutions for them. We also did a visual and art direction for the website to improve the user experience and overall look and feel.

NAVIGATION & CONTACT STREAMLINED

ASB has streamlined its website navigation and contact function. Visitors can now find information on programs, courses and events and get in touch with ASB staff and faculty. This is part of ASB’s commitment to providing a smooth and supportive experience for its students and community.

NAVIGATION & CONTACT FUNCTION STREAMLINED WITH TECHNOLOGY

Users were confused about how the content was organized on the website and couldn’t find the information they were looking for or get in touch with the ASB team. To solve this problem, we changed the website’s parent header and added a dynamic header to each page so users can move around the website easily. We also leveraged technology to enhance the website’s functionality and user experience.

Also, a clear and prominent call-to-action was placed above the fold on each page so users who want to sign up or register their interest can see and find it.

These will improve user experience by making it easier to navigate the website and connect with the ASB team and ultimately increase engagement and conversions.

OVERLOAD OF INFORMATION

To solve the problem of information overload which was a major concern for most users, we recognized the need to structure the website’s content into smaller and more digestible pieces with icons. ASB is committed to providing a comprehensive and user-friendly education environment like a top university.

To improve user experience we focused on highlighting the key information that will influence a user to enroll in a program or course. By rearranging the content we improved user experience by simplifying the information retrieval process.

Overall our team designed a website that is user experience first without sacrificing the visual.

Through lots of research and testing, we found the pain points and made changes to fix them. For example, we made navigation easier, made calls to action clear and improved how content was presented.

And it paid off, testers gave us good feedback and we’re sure our redesign will get more people interested and sell more.

THE RESULT
